Marketing & content specialist
Intro:
I’m a marketing generalist and content creator with experience across in-house, agency, and freelance work. I create clear, effective digital content across social media, websites, email, campaigns, and brand communications, combining hands-on creative production with a practical understanding of strategy, customer experience, and business goals.
I bring a practical mix of creative, strategic, and hands-on marketing skills.
-
I create practical, on-brand content that helps a business communicate clearly across digital channels. This includes video, photography, graphics, written content, campaign assets, website content, and visual materials that support marketing activity. I’m comfortable taking an idea from rough concept through to a finished piece that feels clear, useful, and aligned with the brand.
-
I understand how to help a brand show up consistently online. I can support social media planning, content calendars, captions, scheduling, publishing, community engagement, and ongoing content improvement. I also have experience in running Meta Ads.
-
I turn marketing ideas into action. I can help coordinate campaign assets, prepare content across channels, support launches, organise messaging, and keep the practical details moving.
-
I write clear copy that helps people understand what a business offers and why it matters. This includes website copy, social captions, email content, product or service descriptions, campaign messaging, customer updates, and brand communications.
-
I can support the creation and improvement of websites, landing pages, digital graphics, branded documents, and other marketing materials. I bring a good eye for layout, clarity, and user experience, with the practical ability to create digital assets that look professional and serve a business purpose.
-
My experience has taught me to always think beyond individual pieces of content. I’m interested in how a brand is understood, how customers experience a business, and how marketing decisions support trust, clarity, and growth. I bring a mix of creative thinking, practical problem-solving, and business awareness, which helps me contribute to both the ideas and the execution.
Hi I’m Joel,
I've spent over five years working in marketing across agencies and in-house teams in the Waikato area, plus 3 years involved in freelance projects. That experience has given me a strong understanding of how strategy and creativity come together to help businesses grow.
I’m currently open to marketing roles where I can bring together creative content, brand thinking, campaign support, digital communications, and hands-on execution as part of a team.
Brands I’ve built
Trggr
Trggr (Trigger) is a New Zealand-founded dating app that combines AI-powered features with a fresh approach to online dating, setting it apart from traditional platforms.
I led the branding and design process, working closely with the app development team to ensure the user experience consistently reflected the brand's personality and positioning. As the product evolved, we refined the brand through multiple iterations to clearly define its point of difference and create a cohesive user experience.
In the lead-up to launch on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, I managed the website, social media strategy, digital advertising, and creative assets, helping establish a strong and consistent brand presence across every customer touchpoint.
*Due to several technical setbacks, this app is still not yet publicly available.
Funki Monkey
Funki Monkey is a smart home technology e-commerce store built on Shopify.
I developed the brand from the ground up—creating its visual identity, designing the website, producing product imagery and content, managing social media, and running Meta advertising campaigns to support growth and online sales.
Lads Army
Lads Army is a social initiative founded in 2022 to encourage men to share their stories and help break the stigma surrounding men's mental health.
The project centred around meaningful storytelling and positive messaging to create a supportive online community. I developed the brand, designed and built the website, created all content, managed social media, and grew the online community from the ground up.
Piano Spark
Piano Spark is an Auckland-based piano tuition business looking to strengthen its online presence and attract new students.
I redesigned and expanded the website, created engaging social media content, and managed targeted Meta advertising campaigns to help reach the right audience.
See for Yourself
See for Yourself is my own educational platform exploring mindfulness, awareness, self-enquiry, and personal growth through practical, evidence-informed content. Built entirely from the ground up, the project combines thoughtful branding, video storytelling, and digital strategy to make complex ideas accessible and engaging.
I developed the brand identity, messaging, website, video content, social media strategy, and overall user experience—creating a platform designed to educate, inspire, and foster a growing online community.

Joel helped a lot with my digital ads, and he helped fine-tune my target audiences (saving me money in the long run!). He’s a competent, patient, knowledgeable marketer, and an all-round good guy wanting the best for his clients. And he’s happy to go the extra mile!
